There are a variety of beautiful galleries located in the city of Bandung Art Galleries, offering the opportunity to see the works of many leading Indonesian artists. Particularly notable is the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), the Selasar Sunaryo Art Space (SSAS) and the NuArt Sculpture Park.
The Museum Barli celebrates the life and works of famous local artist Barli Sasmitawinata, who had been born in Bandung in 1921, only dying reasonably late in the early part of 2007. Barli Sasmitawinata became a keen artist in the 30s and soon started to exhibit his paintings all over Indonesia and in prominent galleries around the globe.

In the Museum Barli, there are more than 100 samples of the work of Barli Sasmitawinata, covering different periods of his work, like realism impressionism and modern expressionism. Various events are staged at the gallery every year, including temporary exhibitions of local artworks, discussion groups, and social gatherings. A shop is on hand, should you wish to buy postcards, prints or ceramics.
INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (ITB)

Located on the northerly side of the Gedung Sate and along the Jalan Ganeca, the Bandung Institute of Technology opened in the early 1920s and was founded by the Dutch. This university is known for its stylish architecture, which is ‘Indo-European’ in character and is home to one of Indonesia’s most renowned fine arts schools. The onsite art gallery is open to members of the public and is well worth checking out if you’re in the vicinity.

Frequently abbreviated as simply the ‘SSAS,’ the Selasar Sunaryo Art Space opened its door to the public in 1998 and carried on to actively promote the development of every aspect of art, through Bandung and Indonesia. Home to a collection of stylish modern paintings, photographs, and handicrafts, the Selasar Sunaryo Art Space on a regular basis features the works of up-and-coming local artists. The Selasar Cafe (Kopi Selasar) and Cinderamata Selasar present shop complete the main attractions.
